What Gem did for the forum was to incite dialogue. Love him or hate him, his threads were some of the most read on the forum in general.

Did he pimp the products he liked? absolutely, but that's not much different than any other car guy I know. When people find something they like, they will swear by it. He was just far more vocal than the average person.

I will admit, I was pretty anti gem in the beginning. We got into it when he had the issue with Visconti. I think he even might have blocked me after our run in, but, I've moved past that and actually read his threads. He does provide a lot of data, and most of his comments are well written.

He is a bit Bulldogish in the fact that he will latch on to things, but I have come to respect him in this "reincarnation".
