Y'all might be surprised how little sound it takes to permenantly damage your hearing, or even just subdue it for a period of time, while your ear heals.

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if taking out the sound deadening put road/wind noise at dangerous levels-especially if you're on poor roads or noisy tires.

For reference, going highway speeds with the windows down is enough to subdue your hearing for a bit.
