I'm just wondering if we'll really be able to shave as much as we think off of that 2610lbs in the FR-S. I mean, they've already left out a lot of crap that we never would've deleted in the first place (metal wheel arches to name one). I'm betting the rear seats weigh about ten pounds total as well.

If you're really aggressive with the removal of stuff, swap your driver's seat out for a carbon racing seat and delete all of the carpeting/sound deadening/dash/passenger seat/door cards/spare/lexan where you can put it, etc...I'm thinking 2430 would be about right.

This kind of brings me back to Opera's S2000 though, which SCC did an article on many moons ago that was reprinted in Modified in '09. Good to know it was kept around on the internet!

Stock structural members have been analyzed for their efficiency and Swiss-cheesed if they are anything less than first-rate at doing their job. In their place are literally hundreds of custom pieces, circle-drilled and chamfered to reduce weight while retaining substantial rigidity, then MIG-welded to the stock sheetmetal.

1-second lap time around Tsukuba Circuit doesn't necessarily involve tens of thousands of dollars in bolt-on performance parts. As long as you've found a way to hack weight down from 2976 pounds to an astounding 2167 pounds, that is.
But really, none of us are going to go that far.
