That is not likely to be true at all with this type of car. Take a look on autotrader for sports cars and note the difference in price for similar cars in auto and manual. Autos tend to trade lower (at least on the sports cars I search occasionally. There's nothing worse than seeing a 911 priced $15k lower than it should be and then realizing it has an auto).

This is a car that is intended to sell to enthusiasts. For the money, you give up a lot of space and features to own an FR-S/BRZ vs other vehicles in its price range. Unless they soften it and somehow vastly increase the equipment list while keeping the price the same, I wouldn't expect this to be a vehicle with mass market appeal.
