There is a big difference between an Automatic transmission - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and a Dual-clutch transmission it's kind of like the difference between a piston engine and a wankel engine; same purpose, very different mechanically. The paddle shifters in the FRS/BRZ have much more in common with the auto in your moms minivan than the "auto" in a GTR or 458. |
Automatic defined: starting or functioning by itself: started, operated, or regulated by a process or mechanism without human intervention.
Automatic is automatic is automatic. No matter how the transmission accomplishes it, the driver need not be involved in the process.
