Thanks for posting all this.

Though the Scion's interior isn't pretty, it ditches all the non-essential amenities and will be significantly cheaper and possibly a bit lighter.

So for less money, the Scion will offer the same (if not slightly better) driving dynamics, which means the FR-S will achieve the FT86's initial goal better than the GT86 and BRZ.
