They are quick disconnect connections that will come apart with a simple tug. I've "accidentally" tested that feature and glad they didn't break when I did. There's no need to worry about egress.

This setup doesn't make sense for a street car but I knew there were some serious track junkies who may have removed their A/C or may have race cars.

These are used by most professional race teams/drivers; Grand Am, Continential, Aussie V8's etc etc. However some of these teams have a cool shirt setup (north of $1500) that uses refrigerant to cool the shirt instead of ice water.
