You can see in the pics on the first post a small rectangular vented panel just next to the area of plastic this thread says to remove. If you pull gently this panel will just pop off. Depending on the size of your arm you can just put your hand in there, the drl resistor plug is immediately above the panel.
You can carefully unplug the resistor, wrap the wire around the harness and tuck the end against the frame. This took me about 1 minute, required no tools or supplies, and was totally effective.
If you look on the back of that access panel there is a nice Subaru logo (on my NA FRS).

A big thanks for this tip. I just installed the LED DRLs in my FR-S (the ones that go where the fog lights would be) and wanted to turn off the factory DRLs without a trip to the dealer or having to disassemble the car. Your tip worked perfectly...opened the panel, unplugged the cable, taped it up and put the panel back. High beams still work as expected but no DRLs and only a few minutes to do it, no tools required!
