this is exactly what i did.
take off tails, and mask them off, wet sanded with 1500, then with 2000 before painting. sprayed it with duplicolor metalcast. started with VERY light coats, then went heavier as i went along. took about 20 minutes between coats. before the last thick coat of red i wetsanded with 2000grit so it was smooth. MAKE SURE THEY ARE DRY. then i used duplicolor high gloss UV clear. did a few coats of that lightly then went heavier. then wetsanded with 2000 grit again and hit it with krylon super high gloss clear.
i used one can on metal cast, one can of UV clear, maybe 1/2 can high gloss clear. i could have used more metalcast to be honest because some areas do need more red, but all in all i'm very happy.

Also - you said you have the non-resonated Perrin exhaust - is that the louder of the two? And it sounds like you like it?

1st one was as expected, lots of shavings. but its nothing unnatural for an engine with 1k miles. i'll do it again in another 2k miles when i do my third oil change.
yes, i came from the Greddy Evo 3. which, for lack of a better term was shit. sounded great on the outside but interior noise on the highway was ridiculous, and then i only had it for 2 months and the surface rusting was horrendous.
i have the unresonated and its perfect. its VERY tame but just enough to know its not stock.

I was thinking of going Seibon, but the way your whole setup came together... not sure if I want the CF look anymore. :P
And did you bake the tail lights? Or did you just red it out?
|
explained the tails above. no baking, just alot of waiting for them to dry. beer is a great way to pass the time
this is what i have, i was their test car, i'll be in their booth at WBM
