As long as you take it right off and/or rinse it off then you shouldn't have issues, especially with clearcoated paint. But you definitely don't want to let it sit on paint. When we would clean engine bays at my shop, some cars didn't seem to be sensitive, but others would wind up with color on the rag when you went to wipe it down.
Diluting it if you want to use it on a finished surface if you need to soak it a bit, but it will take wax and other coatings/sealants off, so if that's your goal, it will work well.
