i agree,and one must accelerate to reach 6th,and then,stay there without lugging the engine to achieve the best mileage. you should ''always" down shift to apply more power before shifting back into overdrive,as it is more efficient fuel wise to do so,and imparts "less" stress on the engine. this is true. also correct is less time spent accelerating,and braking creating kinetic energy,thus,burning fuel at a faster rate. again,being in "overdrive" as much as possible alleviates these concerns.
