if you're trying to save gas between burnouts: I used to upshift above 2k on residential roads out of habit from my last car, sometimes going into 6th @ 45 mph. after driving around with the MPG meter on for a while, I've found that hovering around 2.5k gives the best fuel economy (if you're trying). I never go into 6th anymore save for highways.
