It would be a sad world if everyone thought that way.
Although my 86 doesn't have this problem after nearly 6,000km, probably because ethanol is rare here, I am interested and feel entitled to comment if I want.
It appears to be a single washer in the HPFP that gets noisy when the combination of ethanol and heat reduce the level of lubrication. Unless there's been some more information that i've missed? I thought it was supposed to have been addressed about November 2012 build on?
I certainly couldn't put up with my pride and joy sounding like shit.
There are 2 solutions until it's resolved.
Use ethanol free fuel but I wonder if there is damage caused and sometimes that might not totally fix the problem[noise]?
The other method, which freaks people out, is to add a tiny amount of high quality ash free 2 stroke oil when you fill up the tank.
I used it at 1:200 for 3 years in my last vehicle which also had a HPFP and the only effects were a quieter engine, lower fuel consumption and I hope, a longer lasting engine and fuel system.
That was a common rail turbo diesel and 1:1000 seems to be enough to shut the chirp up in this case.
If mine starts chirping and Toyota haven't got a fix then I wont hesitate to add 2T because it makes sense to me and nobody using it has reported any problems as far as i'm aware?
Each to their own solution and good luck.
