autox cars are set up differently than track cars. just because it's advantageous for an autox car, doesn't mean it's advantageous for a track car.

That's an important point. The wheels, tires, and suspension options you see praised are biased by the type of racing each person is tailoring their car to be competitive in. What's best on a technical 60 second autocross course with several minutes of cool down between laps won't necessarily carry over to multiple laps of an acceleration based road course with higher speeds. It's obvious to spot the differences between a drag car and an autocross car, but road course driving is closer to autocross while being somewhere in between.
