This is a good option too, it's weird that most people with 17's have 9" width and most 18's are 8" width. I guess thats just what's available there are very few 18x9's out there and they would be getting up there in weight also.

you see 17x9 as a common size because 9'' is the widest and only stock diameter wheels are allowed in STX class.
autox cars are set up differently than track cars. just because it's advantageous for an autox car, doesn't mean it's advantageous for a track car.
