I am VERY tempted by the BF Goodrich G-Force Rival tire in 225/45/17. They are only cost a little bit more than the Nitto NT05 and may be a better tire and it certainly seems that they may be longer lasting.
I am also now considering the Advan TCII wheel in 17x8.5. Just a little heavier, but it is built to be durable on the track. Downsides? It is a bit more expensive, at about the same price as the O.Z. Alleggerita HLT.
Why does an 8.5" wheel make sense:
Tire size 225/45/17, recommended rim 7-8.5
Tire size 235/40/17, recommended rim 8-9.5
Tire size 245/40/17, recommended rim 8-9.5
The 8.5" rim is in the recommended range for all of these tire sizes.
