I would also guess that they've pushed the seat back as far as it can go so it's easier to see the front, take pics with camera in hand while sitting in it, etc.
I'm assuming that if the passenger pushed the seat up to their knees you could fit a kid in the back behind him.
Not ideal, but let's be honest - it's great for insurance purposes and for folding down in a pinch for more storage. Looks like it'll be as usable as the backseat in a Dodge Stealth
