I've thought a lot about this. Even made a thread about it in the maintenance section a while back. The consensus seemed to be wait until the 7.5k miles. Subaru will not do a free oil change before then because the manual says 7.5k. Most people think the "change oil after 3k" thing is an older way of thinking... And with the fluids that come from the factory these days, they are designed to go longer.

So yeah, I'm waiting til 7.5k. Hardest part will be handing the keys over to the dealer because I've NEVER let anyone else change my oil - ever. I want to be like, "can you just give me the oil and filter and I'll do it myself at home??" Ha!!
