Honestly, i think by "development" they meant not giving it to a "committee" to design, and instead it was built by "
passion" (i.e. Nurburgring races, rigorous performance testing, CEO involvement, design by nostalgic car lovers with a 2000GT for reference, Lightness as a main priority) and all of this for a sub $25k car? that's unheard of and definitely not "traditional".
