Whichever car charms you more emotionally is the car to get. The one that you envision yourself driving happily is the one that will make you happy. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. 370Z is a great car but I've never considered it. Some new Z owners, likewise, probably never considered the FR-S. Or some GenCoupe owners woudn't consider those other cars. Besides each car's performance strengths/weaknesses, each car also has a unique character that people gravitate towards. At least I'm like that. Some buy a car for its mechanical offerings and dispense of it once they're done. As if it were a tool; never having been emotionally attached to it. Are you that type? I personally can't buy a car with that mindset. The emotional aspect usually makes the decision a no-brainer for me. It's like you subconsciously already know what you want; you just have to be honest with yourself to divulge which one you're most attracted to. The one with the "it" factor. And you will forgive its flaws which you may eventually accept as quirks you can appreciate.
A reason I never cared for the Z is I've driven a few 350Zs and owned a G35 and didn't feel like having more of the same. That desire for variety can absolutely weigh in on your emotions. And if you want to pop your Z cherry, I'd understand.
