i prefer the 15s as well, unfortunately i found out about the 16inch Rota R-Spec after i bought and restored the ATR rims, but the R-Spec 16s should be the perfect blend of looks and handling. But to be honest, it isnt the diameter of the rims that ruins the feel, it's the width of the tire and the offset of the rim, and of course the unsprung weight. And 18 inch rims with 195 tires just look wrong

Actually , when i first read about the FT86 two years ago, it was an article by one of the designers who said that their target was to make car that handled like an ITR...
oh and regarding handbuilt, the ITR was somewhat hand built, if you recall
