Using an impact gun is the easiest way to remove the alternator nut.
I tried removing the alternator and using nonslip drawer liners to hold the pulley in a vice, to prevent damaging it. I used a breaker bar with 24mm socket to try and remove the nut, but it just slipped out. With an impact gun today, took all of 5 minutes.
