Your point about a stealth install is very valid. Since the V1 case is boxier than a lot of other units on the market, many people have hidden their V1 so they are less conspicuous to passersby. For a while, Stealth1 offered some sort of connection that converted the car's factory dashboard into the display for the detector -- very trick! Sadly I think they are out of business.
I would love to see someone make it so the digital speedo in the FRS/BRZ would instead show V1 display. Holy crap that would be so cool!
As for the bluetooth smartphone app, I guess it appeals to some people but it is not for me. With my luck the phone will freeze just as I'm cresting a hill and getting nailed by a state trooper! Call me old fashioned, but there are some things my cellphone does NOT need to do.
