I put in a makeshift cover whenever I NEED to drive in the rain. Otherwise, I have the WRX for any type of inclement weather. I also experimented with a simple towel and drove 30 miles when it was raining- there was a siginificant amount of rain caught.

I haven't had any cooling issues with the car. The peak temps during the testing day at the track were actually very acceptable. Again, we had probably 15-30min between each run. The car is also running Motul oil and e85.. The car would probably be a bit warmer with cheaper oil and 93octane.
