Regarding the tax argument, we should get rid of "income taxes" completely and go to a flat rate federal sales tax. We could forget about capital gains taxes as well. You would only pay taxes if you spent money. THE END.
The next goal would be to shrink the federal government as much as possible so that we could make the federal sales tax as small as possible.

I was thinking about that a while ago. It makes excellent sense, but implementing it would be a nightmare. First, getting the people to accept a massive sales tax increase. Even if overall they end up paying the same, the people will freak the hell out. Second, if the US already has difficulty with drug smugglers, what will they do when the borders get flooded with 'normal' tax-free goods smugglers?
