Sorry, I had to laugh at the driving-into-their-garage part. You can't really blame technology when it's user error.
All of those issues seem to fall on the owner's behalf so I don't really see how the rack can be at fault or even a bad idea.
I've had 2 motorcycle stolen with one moto being less than 2 weeks old and only 688 miles on the odometer. I'm aware that bicycles can be a target for thieves when they are on the rack. My Felt was $3200 and even though it was on my Thule truck bed rack, I made sure it was within view and cabled locked.
Back on topic...
Looking at truck of the VLN FRS, what Jack Hollis mentioned and the Toyota training manual, fitting 4 wheels, a jack and your gear so a bike should be able to fit but damn it looks like a very tight fit.
