My Vw Spotwagen has zero issues. As long as you do proper maintenance, and on the diesels add a lubricant to the fuel, you will have no hpfp issues at all. I was lucky enough to find a manual trans car and we love every minute of it. I average 45 mpg hand calculated and the car only has 20k miles so far. To me the only thing lacking on this car is awd. A few people I know with more miles on their Sportwagens are now into the low 50 mpg range. I have had 3 Vw's so far and they have all been problem free. Maybe I am just lucky. If I could afford an R8 V10, it would be in my garage. Nothing like the sound of a V10 at full song.
