There are very good reason why those cars have the gearboxes they do, and those gearboxes have exactly NOTHING in common with the auto in a Toyabaru outside of the fact that they're both transmissions. As an ME student and general enthusiast of all things mechanical I can appreciate the quest for ultimate efficiency. Efficiency however is not one dimensional; it has to be measured from the very beginning of the products life all the way to the end. Not just from the dealers lot to the first 75,000 miles.

Also: I don't know what elite you'd like to be associated with but million dollar exotics don't exist because people with money don't buy them. Life is not a passionless mental exercise or a cold calculation. Because if it was then none of us should be buying a BRZ/FR-S.
Your cynicism isn't a quality deemed "right" for this world which you seem to care about maniacally when it comes to "correcting" people to manuals. Not everyone can afford multiple cars. Environmental studies/long term projections by Toyota (I questioned the validity when I worked there) dispute your "fact" about the Suburban but that's getting OT.

So you're saying people should not live passionless, calculative lives and only manual drivers shall be capable of living that passion. What about the modern day Thomas Edisons or Michael Faradays who are pursuing innovations for the greater good? What if only an electric powered vehicle in their day-to-day can immerse them in their passion? A manual would only impede on their passion.

We're discussing transmissions, right? Well, supercars have transmissions. 100% fair game for discussion. Oh wait, are we discussing this only in your bubble of a world? If so, then I'll let you contine thinking you're right in your little fantasyland.

You know that BRZ you want? It was funded by a company that's spearheading hybrids and thereby maintaining relevance in the auto industry. The FT86 spunoff from the FT-HS hybrid concept.

If we took away automatic hybrids then BRZ passion go bye bye!

Props on contradicting yourself left and right.
