I have really mixed feelings on this. Obviously I wouldn't want someone de-railing my for sale thread, but at the same time as a purchaser I like to be informed.

Let's take an example, as a buyer you find someone selling some wheels for $2k that you like. Someone else posts in the thread a link to an online shop that sells them for $1500 new, would you want to know that?

Or another example, a for sale thread for a part that's known to reduce power (eg certain intakes/headers)?

The onus is on the buyer to know what they are buying of course, "buyer beware" and all that, but it's still a forum which should be an open place to have a discussion to everyone's mutual benefit. Hard to say where to draw the line!
