Here is how you fix this problem. Take out the two Clips that hold in the foot rest, and put some kind of lube on them and then reinsert them and your popping noise problem will be solved. Get you a set of panel popping tools to remove those two clips. These clips are metal. They are kinda hard to get out. I would also try to look for some new ones from the dealer. They might have made them better over the last year.

Mine is not making any noises now. All I did was spray some electric contact cleaner on the end of each clip and then inserted them back in and I was good. If anybody knows of any better lube let me know.
