My mom had an Eclipse GT V6 and I used to work at a Mitsubishi dealership so I drove them a lot. I have a 2G Eclipse GSX (AWD turbo) and I don't like the 4G's nearly as much because they are too big and heavy in my opinion and they can torque steer badly. The FR-S/BRZ will feel more compact with a more natural seating position and will have less roll and give you oversteer to play with. Plus, the twins are more modern with better fuel economy, power (compared to the 4 cyl.), and technology. The way they drive, especially if you go for a manual, will be very different from your Eclipse. So it may be worth it if you're really getting bored of the Eclipse. You'll just have to figure that out on your own though.
BTW, I just realized the OP made this thread in June and hasn't responded since. Oh well, hopefully somebody else with an Eclipse will find this thread helpful. :P
