Light beam is similar of halogen bulbs, just more intensified. On the CT200h I installed, my friend noticed the beam was wider and reached farther out front so it's definetily an improvement.
People have used SMD type LED's or even CREE LED's in fog light applications that while that remains true that they will never be as bright as headlights, these 22w LED bulbs do not fall under that catagory.
I haven't tested them in the high beam/drl mode yet, because I haven't reecived any 9005 sizes, but I will get those soon
