From what I observed from the released photos of the BRZ, the wheel well seem to be maxed out by the wheel with the installed suspension. To put in 18x8 probably at max, there needs to be some negative camber and raised height adjustments on the rear.
18x8.5 or even 18x9 are out the questions I would assume.
All input are welcome, please. For a RWD car, not having beefy rear tires just doesn't hold up to what the standards of RWD sport cars are about.

The largest tire you can put in the arch is not necessarily the best. At some point you aren't gaining any traction and you're just adding rotational mass. The point at which this happens will require some testing but i will make a presumtion based on weight and power:
Unless you have substantially more than the 200hp NA that this car will put
out, then a 225 rear tire is all you want in a production car. Once you gain some power a 245 tire may be desired for racing.
