Sniped one on CARS.COM several states away, called up the dealership, put down a deposit, and got the papers i needed to sign overnighted from/back to them.. BEST & smoothest car buying experience I ever had.
No need to wait 3-5 months.. there's several sitting on dealer lots (particularly in the North/Northeast). Find the one you want and go get it!
