I would do what you want, and depends on the stage of life you are in personally.
If you don't see your self getting a new car within 3 years, than I would just get the TT-S. If your budget fits.
Yes European cars are "more" expensive to maintain, but everyone in this thread is hating.
I'm sure the TT-S is fun, it's also more prestige and luxurious.
