I think that the 'down pipe' might be slightly better than the front pipe because it take 'some' of the torque dip away but you probably won't notice much of a sound difference as a front pipe would make it slightly louder, or raspy with a 'test pipe' on a lot of after market cat back exhaust systems if it's non resonated you will be in "rasp city".
