I don't want to drive a Mustang that looks the same as a Fusion/Focus/Fiesta (Aston Martin.) It's a good looking car imo, but I do not feel that it is appropriate to the Mustang history.
It'll probably sell just as well, but I think it will be a different customer base than prior years. Which is fine from a business perspective, and perhaps a good idea to increase business overall. But kind of sad to see an already borderline "Muscle" losing a little more of it's "Muscle" heritage.
Anyway. That is where the similarity comes from. Although, I did read somewhere a while ago, that the designer himself denied that they were so similar. ( I don't know why? or... how you could deny it? ) but there you go.

I agree on a lot of what you said. I think Ford will get the design right. Its been stated that they are moving away from the retro look, but that does not mean muscle car look. If the car were to look like the first render, I do believe that is a move in the wrong direction. My favorite renders are the last two, which keep the muscle car look but are different from the current styling. Fords goal with the redesign is to capture new customers but still hold the current owners interests. It definitely is hard to keep everyone happy. I think with some modern styling, smaller and more refined body but still keeping true to its muscle car roots it will be a hit.
Can't wait for this summer when we can all see it!
