The Germans, while meticulous with their cars, have not built a comparable FR car.

The VW GTI is a grand touring car, its built for longer drives, daily driving in comfort. You simply cannot compare the two cars. If someone wants a car chaulked full of perfection yes they can buy the GTI but they will also be losing more in drivability, in my opinon, which is more valuable than perfection.

One could argue that you could just buy a VW and save on purchase price but you would also sacrifice the expirience of a RWD lightweight sports car. I've driven a GTI, reminded me of the 2003 EP3 Civic Si but sturdier/tighter.

In terms of quailty over cost comparison. The driveability, handling, overal fun aspect of the car outweighs any insignificant rattle or annoyance for most seasoned drivers. And furthermore the car looks a hell of alot better than a boxy hatchback.
meticulous with their cars? is this the reason why NONE of their cars has a "better than average" repair record? so much for "alleged" "superior" german engineering.
