Shaking my head. 619, you of course are free to do what you want and like what you want, but this fitment is outside the manufacturer's specs on every tire I can find. (Basically, 225/40R18 is specified for wheel widths between 7.5" and 9" wide.) It also looks to me like that front tire is going to contact the fender at full compression, but I could be wrong on that.

For the rest of you watching at home, my big issue with this kind of "fitment" (or ill-fitment) is that the tire isn't designed for the sidewalls to be at such an extreme angle. The bead strength is reduced, the connection from the sidewall to the tread is weakened, and overall sidewall strength will be less.

From the standpoint of weight, you've basically added extra weight in the form of a much larger wheel than is required for that tire size. On a car where weight is so important (given the low power and torque, every pound counts), wasting weight on a wider-looking wheel just seems a shame.

Again, to the original poster, this is your car and you can do what you like to it. Some people like this look, regardless of function. I guess my post is mostly directed at future wheel/tire purchasers. To those people, do yourself a favor and get a wheel that's sized properly to the tire you're planning to run. It'll weigh less and you'll maximize grip and strength, and you'll have better-than-stock performance, not worse.
