First of all, hello everyone! I figured it was about time to get started in the discussion.
With regards to weight distribution: In one of the leaked shots it was translated that they focused mainly on CoG since that it not nearly as easy to tune as the F/R weight distribution. This makes me think that they settled on 53/47 in order for the car to be more drivable for a wider range of customers. The fact that they mentioned changing F/R distribution at all probably means that they realize that it's not necessarily ideal for all applications. Seems to me that they're covering their bases.
As for the rear view mirror, we'll just have to wait and see. The mirror in my Legacy is huge (because it has the little digital direction display). In general I believe in the importance of simplicity and functionality, and the fact that they made this decision with the mirror makes me that much more confident about other decisions in the car that might be more important.
