I kept reading this thread and decided to give it a whirl. Huge difference my friend. Even after driving for 15k on the stock setup, it took all of about 5 minutes to realize this is what it should have been from the start. Never going back to the stock setup.

You are describing me too almost word for word - last manual car was this old crappy VW Rabbit I learned on 10 years ago. But it shifted quickly and had a short clutch like this mod does.
When I test drove the Scion I felt like...why does this clutch feel SO high up? And driving it around now, while I LOVE my car and am so happy, I keep having some issues here and there because I struggle with smooth shifting.
Thank you SO much for pointing this thread out and Koji for posting the DIY - I'm going to take my car over to my parents place [way more room to work - my car garage is too tiny and shared with my sister's xB] and work on this. Bit nervous but seems like this is pretty derp proof provided I follow everything closely ^_^
