I bought the type that has Nylon straps and metal clips to fasten a rack onto the car. Haven't tried it on my 86 yet as I have another car for getting my MTB to the track... But it should work fine for the 86. have a look at

If you did use it on your 86 I'd recommend putting some cloth or padding between the clips and the paint because although it's rubberized, it
may still leave some small scratches.
Ryan's suggestion ^ is far better
IF you can find something like this since the 86 is not recommended to have a tow bar and this will rule out any sort of towbar-type solution.
