Honestly it doesn't. You're talking a 2.0l H4. That platform is typically for torque. DI and higher compression will be the only real way (N/A) to achieve those kind of numbers on pump gas.
I have a friend w/ a race build 2.5L H4 (N/A) making about 285 to the wheels. He's at 12.5:1 and runs 105 leaded.
Makes sense to me.
