Direct injection is not for high rpm, it is for high torque requirement aka throttle position.

Funky dip in torque curve hmmm...actually you may be right, AVCS is continuous so it can't be that, perhaps it is the intake manifold resonance properties.

Actually I went back and looked, I think it may be that AVCS was not continuous until recently. That would explain it.

The FT curve as I said, is copied from an old Toyota article. For all I'm concerned, it is a 100% match.
