Don't sweat it Fred_boosted! They were not laughing at you. Paying $1000 for a clutch is ridiculous! There are countless books and guides for doing this yourself. Tou have to be willing and be fairly competent(mechanically ) and if you are lucky have some help/special tools.

DI + 12.5:1 static CR is not terribly aggressive; other posters have already pointed out Mazda is doing 14:1 static CR with their Skyactiv engine, though they back it down to 13:1 for stupid garbage USA 87 octane.
While most of what you said is true. There is one detail of which I disagree.

We get the same RON regular octane as Japan, it's the premium US 93 octane that we only have in certain states that differs since most cars are built to the lowest common denominator, US 91 Octane. I believe the lower compression has more to do with our stricter laws regarding NoX emissions. Ever notice that Honda stopped advertising lean burn?

Good news for you and me and all the rest of us... if you want to get 300whp with that compression, it will be really easy with only like 8 psi or so, run meth/h2o injection or Ethanol with that turbo kit and you can get to over 300whp I'm guessing.
^These +1. Except the last part, since turboing this engine will depend heavily on the engine structural integrity and available tuning!

I think low boost will be safe either way, if you want more go race fuel.
