Recall the FA20 is a cousin of the FB20, which only makes 140HP. Extracting 60 more HP while still meeting worldwide emissions with lowest-common-denominator fuel is quite an achievement. 12.5:1 static CR is nothing new; drag racers have been running over 13:1 with carburetors since at least the 60's. DI + 12.5:1 static CR is not terribly aggressive; other posters have already pointed out Mazda is doing 14:1 static CR with their Skyactiv engine, though they back it down to 13:1 for stupid garbage USA 87 octane.
