Around 32 degrees F automobile AC systems are designed NOT to turn ON; they could, and probably would, freeze the lines causing damage, and leaks, and all of the refrigerant would leak out. So they don't turn ON ... by design. I don't recall what the exact temperature is for the BRZ/FRS.

Automobile AC systems are designed NOT to turn on if ambient temp is 32F? says who? My 2010 altima coupe has AC that can be turned on in the cold cold toronto winter.
