Traditionally TRD has ALWAYS shunned Turbo kits, I cannot remember the last time TRD released a turbo kit. If TRD releases any type of FI for this engine it will most likely be a supercharger with an intercooler of some sort. Whether they go with a centrifugal type SC with a separate intercooler like they released for the Scion tC or a lobe type SC with integrated inter-cooling in one unit like they did for my Toyota Tacoma, solely depends on what works best for the car and what they can fit in the engine bay.

I will be highly supprised if TRD even goes near a Turbocharger and if they do it will most likely be developed heavily by Subaru and just badged as TRD IMO.
yes in recent years toyota has gone the SC route, but this engine is primarily a subaru engine. What do subaru performance engines have? A nice little snail . I would expect a turbo over a SC for this car, IF we were to see any FI option. I have an 07 wrx, and can say from experience on a modern, smaller turbo setup there is minimal lag. And my car has plenty of get up and go even below 3k rpms.

I wouldn't be shocked to see this car go on sale for a year or two, then have a FI option become available. Lots of lease returns, and trade ins by people who wanted a boosted ft/brz, but settled for what was offered initially. Think Apple, and how they always hold back to make people buy each generation of any product.

Once my 07 wrx is paid off, I'll weigh out my options. trade it in for a new sti, or keep it and get an older truck for hauling, and an ft/brz for some rwd action
