There are a lot of options for dealing with the chirp if it bugs you that badly (it bugged me) - something you can do until they (hopefully) come out with a fix, although most likely they won't. Most likely we'll all sell our cars one day with the chirp still in effect...sucks, but that's probably the reality.
Anyway, back to the "fix" - find some non-ethanol gas in your area (
http://pure-gas.org/). Go fill up there, so long as it's premium octane. Within a few miles, your chirping will be gone. Now, go fill up at that same station every time if possible, OR every 2-3 tanks. For me, it seems like it takes a few tanks of gas for the chirping to come back, so if I just fill up with non-ethanol gas every 3rd tank, I never get to a point where chirping returns.
