Running lean makes for hotter engine temps. This increase in temp leads to what is known commonly as "knock" or for the "technical guru's".... preignition. You run too lean and what happens is you have an unexpected explosion in your combustion chamber, the force generated by that explosion has to go somewhere and that somewhere usually goes to the desctruction of rods, putting stress on rod bolts. either you melt shit, or shoot something through the side of the block

Like I said before, I've spent plenty of time with these cars and know the sweet spot. If I wanted to push it id run 12.3-5s on pump.. Yeah on pump.
